Bring & Brag January 2026 Entries and Winners

The January category was Anything Goes, we had five entries, three made the top in the popular vote:

1st place went to Neal Schorr for his submission of three O-scale freight cars from his home railroad, the PRR Middle Division, which he realistically weathered using powders, chalks, paint streaks, and on the flatcar staining the deck to create an impression of individual wooden boards.

2nd place went to Rick Montgomery for his entry of two HO-scale Ford Motor Company oil storage tanks. He repainted the 2 Bachmann Arco Blinkning Oil Tank models, removed the blinking light and replaced it with a cover from a medical syringe for the top, added Ford decals from Ebay and blue & white labels from Walmart to cover the Arco logo, painted details and rails, and added figures from Walthers.

3rd place went to Jim Braum for his entry of a "What if" there was Pittsburgh and West Virginia Heritage Unit paint scheme on an SD40-2. Work in Progress - Pittsburgh & West Virginia (P&WV) SD40-2
Prototype information: This was created between a "What if" had the P&WV lasted long enough to purchase SD40-2 units, and if the Wheeling & Lake Erie Ry did an accurate heritage unit for the railroad.
What did I do: I stripped the paint, and airbrushed for a modernized version of the P&WV paint scheme. I also added detail parts including outward facing cameras, metal grab irons, ditch light housings and functional ditch light as well, and replaced the headlights with LEDs. Then applied all of the decals.
What I still have to do: Install the handrails, light weathering, install the locomotive horn, and potentially install a crew in the cab.

Two additional entries were submitted for the January contest.

Rick Marshall entered his 3D printed toy railroad, which he describes as a “child’s toy.” His creation includes a thumb-wheel and magnets to move the train along the track and also the boat around the lake!
